Week 28

From my weekly email...

Sorry for the delay in getting this email out. It has been a tough week. We went in last Thursday to meet with the specialist only to find that we have started down that slippery slope of my cervix giving way and the possibility of labor and delivery coming a bit early. This is something the doctors have been waiting for. They remind me that I do have an incompetent cervix and this is what happens when you have that medical condition. The great news is that I am greater than 28 weeks...which means, if our little boy were born today he would live. He would have to spend some extra time in the hospital, but we have passed 100% survivability. For now, we are praying for 34 weeks to come quickly. We would be so pleased if God would keep him tucked away until then as that brings a "full term" baby. Please pray with us that we can have a fully developed baby boy...that his lungs and blood vessels will be ready for this world! He is hanging on for now...and I am not in labor (thank God!!)...So, for now, we wait to see what God's plan is (Jeremiah 29:11-13) because we are convinced his plan is perfect!! Please pray with us as we wait (holding our breath!)!
All our love! Ash

How your baby's growing:
By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
